The safety of our children, families, and vulnerable members of our community will always be my top priority
FOR YEARS THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY HAS BEEN PURSUING AN APPROACH TO DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE THAT IS CLEARLY NOT WORKING.
One in three homicides in Berkshire County over the past decade were domes c violence murders.
Berkshire County’s rate of domestic violence restraining orders is 23% higher than the rest of the state.
In 2015, Pittsfield had the 6th highest rate of rape by population in Massachusetts. That was over twice the state average.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
As District Attorney, Andrea Harrington will get tough on sexual predators and domestic abusers. Andrea has a plan that will empower victims and give them the support and justice they deserve. As Berkshire County District Attorney, she will:
THE HARRINGTON PLAN
Establish a Domestic Violence High Risk Prevention Program, made up of representatives from law enforcement, the Probation Department, 911 dispatchers, the Department of Children & Families, health care professionals, and our local community victim advocates to ensure a coordinated, comprehensive, and consistent response to domestic violence.
- Review all un-indicted complaints of sexual assault received by the District Attorney’s office in the last 15 years, including processing all untested rape kits. Andrea will prosecute those who prey on others wherever there is probable cause. Andrea will tackle the tough cases.
- AndreaHarrington will not negotiate plea deals with sex offenders and domestic abusers that put them back out on the street. Incarceration, not proba on, is the only way to protect our community from those who prey on the most vulnerable.
